...to endorse "Count Every Vote Act" and "Voter Accessibility Act"

Resolution BC-2005-02-4-21

A resolution to endorse S.450, the Count Every Vote Act, and HR.550, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2005,

Whereas:

Every citizen has a right to vote, and have his or her vote counted;


And Whereas:

The function of government, in a democracy, is to ensure that the voting process be fair, accurate, verifiable, and free of unnecessary impediment;


And Whereas:

S.450 and HR.550 take both comprehensive and common-sense measures to enact the abovementioned goals,


We therefore resolve:

  1. Benton County Democrats endorse S.450 and HR.550;

  2. Benton County Democrats call on Senators Wyden and Smith to support S.450 and Congresswoman Hooley and Congressman DeFazio to support HR550;

  3. Benton County Democrats call on other Democratic organizations likewise to endorse S.450 and HR.550, and to urge Oregon's Senators and Congressmen and Congresswomen to support these bills;

  4. Benton County Democrats call on the state central committee of the Democratic Party of Oregon likewise to endorse these bills, and to urge Oregon's Senators and Congressmen and Congresswomen to support them as well.
